FELINDRE

A circular walk from Felindre, towards Trefin, then back on the coastpath to Porthgain and up through the field to Felindre Cottages.

The start of the walk is by our cottages, just follow the lane to the right. Over a cattle grid and bear right down a farm track.

The track emerges into countryside.

Keep to the right of the wheat field.

Across a field to the style in the far corner.

Turn left on to the road. It's only a short stretch before you pick up the coast path on your left. (Trefin is dead ahead.)

Onto the Coastal Path. That's the little beach at Trefin in the background.

There's stone circle there. (It wasn't put there by the ancient Druids, but was erected by the landowner, Cerys Matthews father, as a Welsh "folly"!......

The views are fantastic and today the water is still and crystal clear.

A standing stone on a "Ley line"? or a Carreg Rubbio, a rubbing stone for cattle!.... Strumble Head is in the background.

The flowers on the coastal path in May are as breath-taking as the views...

The gorse is out virtually all year round, did you know it has a strong smell of coconut?

The path continues on towards Porthgain.

Another lovely view. The flat topped island belongs to our neighbour. He spins the yarn that once a year his family picnic on it!....

More flowers looking back towards Strumble Head.

Nearly at Porthgain.

Porthgain harbour. The ruined brickwork is what is left of the hoppers for different sizes of granite chips. Porthgain was a very busy port at one time, see the old pictures of Porthgain "as it was" on the picture contents page.

Up the track at the end of Porthgain

Follow the well worn path up through the field towards Felindre.

Then we are back to where we started! The whole walk takes about 1 to 2 hours depending on how much time you spend just looking, or if you stop off at the Sloop Inn for a well earned drink!
